Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Surgical Technologist (CST/ST) to join the Operating Room team. This full-time role (40 hours/week) offers 8 hour day shifts (Mon-Fri) with additional call hours.

Career ladder options to CST II/III/FA are available for growth. Responsibilities include passing instruments to the surgical team, coordinating patient care with colleagues, and upholding patient rights and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program preferred.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association or completion within 30 days of hire; Surgical Technology Certification preferred.
• Must understand English (written and spoken) and be able to perform job functions with/without accommodation; physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds.

Department: Operating Room

Status: Full-Time - 40 hours/week

Qualifications

• Experience: Surgical technologist/scrub experience preferred for Surgical Technologist roles; and is required to be considered for Level II/III.
• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. Surgical Technology Certification preferred. Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered with applicable surgical technologist experience.
• Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law. Physical requirements/demands:
  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
