Job summary

Ascension Health in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Surgical Technologist to prepare the operating room, arrange sterile and non-sterile instruments, and assist the surgeon during procedures.

The role supports patient positioning, draping, and instrument counts, with day shift and PRN options. Candidates need BLS certification within 30 days and either a high school diploma with 2 years of experience or an associate/technical degree or 4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Must have BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of cumulative experience.
• An Associate's degree/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable cumulative job experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor instrument counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons with hemostasis during surgery.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.

• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.

• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.

• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.

• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

License / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences:

• Neurology experience
• Surgical Technology degree
• 1 -2 years in main OR
