Surgical Technologist III

Department

Hours / Shift

Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week

Overview

Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality.

Job Duties:
  1. Anticipates surgeon and operative team members needs regarding care delivery, maintaining sterile technique and comfort.
  2. Assists surgeon in a knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous manner.
  3. Knows procedure and/or utilizes preference cards to ensure instrument and equipment needs are available so the team can stay patient-focused.
  4. Inspects instruments and power equipment prior to use to ensure operational order, troubleshoots, reports, and removes faulty instruments and equipment from service.
  5. Performs or assists in sterile preps as needed, monitoring aseptic techniques of surgical team members at the field, reporting and correcting breaks in sterile technique immediately, and controlling the location of contaminated instruments and supplies.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Licensure: Surgical Technology License required for Missouri.
  • Experience: Non-certified applicants may be considered with acceptable surgical technology experience.
  • Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Other: Must understand English (written and spoken). Ability to perform job functions safely and successfully, with or without reasonable accommodation as required by law.
