Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, KY, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the Neurosurgical specialty team. The role provides assistance to physicians in invasive and non-invasive procedures and supports the sterile field throughout the operation.

This full-time, 1.0 FTE position includes weekend as needed, with work hours 6:45am–5:15pm. Requires HS diploma, NBSTSA CST or NCCT TS-C, and BLS within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required upon hire.
• NBSTSA CST certification within 90 days of employment.
• TS-C (NCCT) certification within 90 days of employment.
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsabilités

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
• Maintains sterile field and passes instruments to the physician during surgery.
• Accounts for instruments and supplies during surgery and handles specimens for testing.

Job Summary:

Provides assistance to physician and facilitates in procedural areas which includes invasive and non-invasive techniques. Serves as a member of the Neurosurgical specialty team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
• Provides continuous surveillance and maintenance of sterile field.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery.
• Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives specimens for delivery for appropriate testing.
• Assists with application of wound dressings and securing of drainage system.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
• Must serve on one of the three specialty teams.

No experience required

Education - High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within 90 days of employment in this position OR
• TS-C - Tech in Surgery-Certified through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required within 90 days of employment in this position AND
• BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
