UF Health Durbin Park seeks a Surgical Tech II to join our new 5-story, 220,000-square-foot facility in St. Johns, FL. You’ll support the OR team with instrumentation and sterile technique for diverse procedures.

This full-time day-shift role requires NBSTSA/NCCT/AST certification within 1 year, BLS, and readiness for on-call duties within a 45-minute radius. You’ll work with compassionate care and state-of-the-art equipment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a surgical technologist program.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NBSTSA/NCCT/AST certification within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons with instrumentation and sterile technique in the OR.
• Provide patient care in the clinical setting.
• Maintain and handle basic surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Work a full-time day shift and be within a 45-minute call radius.
• Participate in on-call duties.

Responsibilities

Assist the surgeon(s) by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques for procedures performed in the Operating Room and provide patient care in the clinical setting. The Surgical Tech II is also responsible for the care, handling and maintenance of basic surgical equipment and instrumentation. This is a full time, day shift position. Must live within a 45 minute call radius and be willing to do on-call

Qualifications

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Specific course work: Graduate of surgical technologist program

Necessary Skills:

1. Strong working knowledge of patient care and basic human needs throughout the life span. 2. In depth knowledge of medical terminology.

3. Strong working knowledge of acute and chronic disease processes.

4. Knowledge of computer programs used in perioperative services.

5. Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team.

6. Demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods, procedures and techniques resulting from departmental or organization change.

7. Adapts quickly and easily to change and adjusted behavior and approach to work when necessary to achieve goals.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

Certification from NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST within 1 year of date of hire/transfer.

BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
