Job summary

The Hughston Clinic is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the OR team. The role supports surgical procedures under RN supervision, handling sterile supplies, equipment setup and instrument counts.

The ideal candidate will have orthopedic OR experience and a formal Surgical Technologist program with BLS certification. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, ensuring equipment readiness, and supporting patient safety and turnover between cases.

Qualifications

• One year OR experience is required.
• Orthopaedic surgical experience is preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist program; one year may substitute for education.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and provide sterile supplies, instruments and equipment during surgical procedure.
• Maintain the sterile environment/technique.
• Maintain control over all 'countables' during surgery.
• Ensure proper functioning of all equipment prior to use intraoperatively.
• Follow OR policies & procedures for turnover between cases to maintain efficiency.
• Demonstrate adherence to Universal Precautions and wear PPE.
