Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA, is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the first shift (days) to support the operating room team. You will prepare sterile instruments, maintain sterile fields, pass instruments, apply dressings, and transfer patients to recovery, while adhering to infection control protocols.

Required licensure as a Virginia Surgical Technologist and NBSTSA/NCCA certification, plus BLS. Prior surgical tech experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist licensure required in the state of practice.
• NBSTSA/NCCA Surgical Technologist certification REQUIRED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification REQUIRED
• Experience in Surgical Technology preferred

Responsibilities

• Ensures the operating room is prepared with instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the surgeon's needs.
• Assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas.
• Adheres to infection control protocols to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
• Works closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures.
