Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) seeks a Surgical Technician to support surgeons and ensure high-quality patient care during procedures in Sitka, Alaska. You will prepare sterile equipment, anticipate instrument needs, and assist the surgical team under nurse supervision.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) preferred; on-the-job training may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) preferred; if not certified, on-the-job training may be substituted within six months of hire.
• Current BLS certification or within three months of hire and bi-annual renewal.
• Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.
• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs in on surgical procedures under nurse supervision.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications for procedures.
• Monitors sterility of materials and inventories supplies.
• Inventories and orders supplies as needed.
• Develops/implements educational programs for the department.
• Provides input on policy and patient care standards.
• Back up on-call for emergency cases.
• Participates in assigned committees.
• Other duties as assigned.
