Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Surgical Technologist for its Ambulatory Surgery Center in Michigan. The role supports preparation of patients, rooms, and equipment for procedures and ensures sterility and instrument readiness.

The ideal candidate has a surgical technology training program, NBSTSA certification, and BLS. Full-time schedule typically runs 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM with no on-call requirements. Prior OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a surgical technology training program is required.
  • Certification as a surgical technologist from NBSTSA is required.
  • BLS certification from AHA/ARC/Canadian equivalent is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physician’s preference.
  • Inspects equipment for proper working condition.
  • Arranges instruments according to given procedure.
  • Assists in the preparation of patients for surgical procedures, including transport.
  • Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays.
  • Passes sterile surgical equipment to surgeons during procedures.
  • Ensures sterile field is maintained in the operating room.
  • Reports breaks in sterile technique and takes action per policy.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and OSHA.

Surgical Technologist Certified Ambulatory Surgery Center

Position Summary: Assists with the preparation of patients, rooms, and equipment for surgical procedures at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Ensures proper care and use of surgical instruments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physician’s preference
  • Inspects equipment for proper working condition
  • Arranges instruments according to given procedure
  • Assists in the preparation of patients for surgical procedure, including transport
  • Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays
  • Passes sterile surgical equipment to surgeons during surgical procedure
  • Ensures the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in operating room
  • Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action, according to policy
  • Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room
  • Assists in storing and stocking supplies as directed
  • Performs other related job duties as requested.
Required
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a surgical technology training program
  • Certification as a surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date .

  • Previous operating room experience
  • Ambulatory Surgical Center experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers
