Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating technical knowledge of the surgical environment, infection control, and sterility principles to assist in providing a safe surgical environment supporting quality patient care.
- Preparing the operating room with surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions.
- Maintaining a sterile environment per hospital policy and AORN Standards of Care.
- Performing scrub technician functions across all services and specialties.
- Assembling and adjusting sterile and non-sterile equipment.
- Passing instruments and supplies during surgery, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and assisting with sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
- Preparing, caring for, and disposing of laboratory specimens.
- Assisting with surgical dressings and ensuring the availability of specific instrumentation and equipment.
- Transporting patients, helping position them, and assisting with sterilization and equipment operation as needed.
- Labeling medications during procedures and assisting with patient transfer to recovery.
- Restocking the operating room and respecting patient privacy and safety.
- Participating in staff meetings, training, and educational programs.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
- For Cert: Certification by an accredited entity, maintained actively.
- For Non-Cert: Meet specific employment and training criteria, and obtain certification within 12 months if applicable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
Position Details:
Position: Surgical Technologist – Grade: S13, Job Code: 7107; Surgical Technologist (Certified) – Grade: S14, Job Code: 7109.
Schedule: 40 hours/week, rotating days/evenings, weekends, holidays, on-call, with lead responsibilities for radiology procedures.
