Munson Healthcare in Cadillac, MI, is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the ASC. The role supports the OR team, sets up sterile fields, assists the surgeon during procedures, and ensures patient safety.

Full-time, day shifts are available, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities to advance. Required are a Surgical Technology Training Program or LPN with scrub experience, BCLS, and CST/NCCT certification.

Qualifications

• Graduation of an approved Surgical Technology Training Program or Licensed Practical Nurse with previous scrub experience.
• BCLS required.
• Surgical Technologist certification required (C.S.T. or N.C.C.T.).

Responsabilités

• The Surgical Technologist is an integral part of the Operating Room surgical team.
• Sets up sterile field and maintains according to department specific guidelines.
• Assists in moving and prepping the patient for the procedure.
• Assists the surgeon during a procedure under direct supervision.
• Passes and places ties, cauterizes instruments as requested by the surgeon.
• Delivers non-controlled medications to the OR Suite/Pre-Op Holding as needed.

A Day In The Life

• The Surgical Technologist is an integral part of the Operating Room surgical team. This position requires knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operative techniques.
• Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Healthcare.

• Promotes personal and patient safety.
• Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the application of principles of asepsis and infection control.
• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operative techniques.
• Sets up sterile field and maintains according to department specific guidelines.
• Follows all department policies/procedures/guidelines relevant to intraoperative patient care procedures.
• Assisting surgeon during a procedure when requested and under direct supervision includes: Holds retractors placed by surgeon.
• Cauterizes instrument placed by surgeon.
• Passes and places ties at the surgeon's request.
• CFA may assist with surgical wound closure at the surgeon's request per the Certified First Assistant Addendum to this job description.
• Delegated by the Director of Surgical Services the ability to stock non-controlled medications in multiple locations in the OR. Delivers non-controlled medications to the OR Suite/Pre-Op Holding at the request of licensed personnel.
• Performs within the parameters outlined in the surgical technologist performance standards.
• Acts as a preceptor for new department employees or students.
• Safety is a self-responsibility.
• Know the physical requirements of the job and work within those guidelines.
• Perform job duties safely at all times, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques.
• Plan your actions to promote safety.
• Report any unsafe situation/equipment according to hospital procedure.
• Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Has knowledge of where all supplies and equipment can be located in the department.

May Assist the Circulating Nurse in the Following Manner:

• Assists in moving the patient to and from the surgical bed.
• Assists in positioning and prepping of patient for the procedure.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for flash sterilization.
• Assists in the application and securing of dressings and casts.
• Keeps surgeon's preference lists up-to-date.
• Has knowledge of where all supplies and equipment can be located in the department.

What’s Required

Graduation of an approved Surgical Technology Training Program or Licensed Practical Nurse with previous scrub experience.

BCLS required.

Surgical Technologist certification required (C.S.T. or N.C.C.T.).

Shifts: Monday to Friday between - 6:30/7AM - 5/5:30PM

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella. MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
