Job summary

Shriners Spokane is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons during operative procedures and ensure the surgical suite is prepared.

Key duties include maintaining a sterile field, preparing equipment, performing sponge, sharps and instrument counts, and reviewing case lists. The role requires a Surgical Technologist license and BLS; CST preferred with 1 year of scrub experience. No weekends or nights, on-site in Spokane.

Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist license is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Preferred CST certification with 1 year scrub experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a sterile field, provide equipment and supplies, and perform sponge, sharps and instrument counts.
• Provide visualization of the operative site and assist in preparation of the surgical suite.
• Pull cases using preference sheets and OR lists; review lists and equipment prior to case start.
• Scrub in with necessary equipment prior to patient arrival and verify equipment efficacy.
• Attend in-service trainings on new equipment and complete competency evaluations.

The Surgical Technologist assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Assists in preparation of surgical services to ensure suite set up is appropriate. **\*No Weekends, No Nights\*****Key Responsibilities:*** Competency to create and maintain a sterile field, providing equipment and supplies, performing sponge, sharps and instruments counts.* Providing visualization of operative site.* Independently pulls cases utilizing preference sheets and OR special equipment lists.* Updates, reviews lists making changes as necessary. Reviews cases, and equipment prior to start of case.* Is scrubbed in and has equipment prior to patient arriving into the OR suite* Verifying efficacy of equipment, operating, maintaining, verifying, and recording efficacy of equipment* Determines and documents efficacy of equipment. Records reflect accurate description of operations, sterilization, and use of equipment* Familiar with proper assembly, operation, and disassembly of all OR equipment and attends in-service on new equipment* Attends in-service on new equipment, completes competency evaluation successful in operation and maintaining equipment used within the department**Required Qualifications:*** Surgical Technologist License* Basic Life Support (BLS)**Preferred Qualifications:*** High School Diploma/GED* Surgical Technologist Certification (CST)* 1 year experience with scrub skillsThe pay range for this position is $26.58 - $39.86.
