Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit seeks a Surgical Technologist to assist with instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures under RN supervision, while anticipating surgeon needs and helping with patient prep and transport.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of Surgical Technology program or six months specialized patient care training in the armed forces.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures, practices, and operating room techniques.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within one month of start date.
• Preferred: Surgical Technologist certification.
• Preferred: 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during general to moderately complex procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and surgical team to ensure seamless operations.
• Assist with patient preparation and transport, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Support the surgical care team with specific patient care duties.
• Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.

What You Will Need:

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six (6) months specialized patient care training in the armed forces.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures, practices, and techniques in the operating room (OR).
• Current BLS certification or ability to become BLS certified within one month of start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Surgical Technologist certification
• 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience
