Job summary

MercyOne Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist for part-time day shifts. You will prepare the operating room, arrange instruments and supplies, and maintain a sterile field during procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, cataracts, and general surgeries.

This role requires graduation from an accredited surgical technology program, with CST preferred in Iowa. No weekends or on-call duties, with potential to increase hours up to full-time as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent.
• LPN with surgical experience may qualify.
• CST certification preferred in Iowa; required in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Maintain sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
• Support various procedures including colonoscopies, endoscopies, cataracts and general surgeries.

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for preparing the operating room for the surgical procedure including the instruments, equipment, and supplies. They must maintain the sterile field during the surgical procedure. Types of procedures can include Colonoscopies, Endoscopies, Cateracts and general procedures. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and cultural beliefs of MercyOne.

Schedule

• Part-time, 20 hours per week with an option to work up to full-time hours
• Shift: Day
• No weekends/holidays/on call

General Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program.
• Or graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency.
• CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa. CST certification is required if working in Illinois. LPN license is required if you are a graduate of an LPN program.
• No prior experience is required, but (2-5) years strongly preferred
• BLS. Mandatory Reporter.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people; ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence and accountability; and the ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control or planning of an activity.
• Adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
