Job summary

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ, is seeking a Surgical Technician to help prepare the operating room and support the surgical team during a variety of procedures.

You will set up instruments, assist the team, and maintain a sterile environment, adapting quickly and collaborating with the OR staff to contribute to patient healing.

Qualifications

• High school level education required (GED or Diploma).
• Minimum of four (4) years clinical experience as a surgical technologist.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists circulating nurses in set up of surgical procedures per physician preference and hospital protocol.
• Handles laboratory specimens per protocol with zero tolerance for mishandling.
• Assists the surgeon during procedures as requested.
• Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies.
• Assists in patient and equipment preparation.
• Performs follow-up actions as directed.

As our Surgical Technician, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Assists circulating nurses in set up of surgical procedure according to physician preference, standards of care and hospital protocol
• Handles laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol, maintaining hospital standard of zero tolerance for mishandled specimens
• Assists the Surgeon during procedures as requested
• Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies
• Assists in patient/equipment preparation
• Performs follow-up actions as directed

Job Requirements

Required

• High School GED
• High School Graduate
• Minimum of four (4) years clinical experience as a surgical technologist.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred

• Surgical tech program graduate and Graduate of accredited surgical technologist program and certified as a surgical technologist plus two (2) years clinical experience in Labor and Delivery.

Pay Range

$32.38 - $48.17 /hour
