Job summary

Elliot Health System in Manchester, NH is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician Student for the OR to support the surgical team with sterile instrument preparation and intraoperative assistance. This apprenticeship role works under the supervision of the Circulator and RN leadership, with on-site training in a high- pacing OR environment.

The position emphasizes instrument handling, verification processes, case closure, and maintaining a sterile field while contributing to safe patient care.

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in Elliot CST Apprenticeship Program.
• Current BLS certification required.
• NH Medical Technologist registration required unless another NH license is held.

Responsibilities

• Identify and prepare sterile instrumentation and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assist surgical team with verification process.
• Assist surgical team with intra-operative procedures and with closure procedures.
• Review the surgical booking and match procedures to preference cards.
• Accurately use surgical preference cards for instrumentation selection.
• Inspect instruments for sterility, safety and function.
• Maintain sterile field and respond to intraoperative situations as needed.

About the Job:

As a member of the Surgical Services team, the Surgical Technologist identifies and prepares sterile instrumentation and equipment for surgical procedures. This role assists the surgical team with the verification process, intra-operative procedures, and case closure protocol. In given circumstances that may arise must respond appropriately to emergency situations. The Surgical Technologist works under the direction of the Circulator and is accountable to the RN Unit Director.
