Job summary

Providence Seaside Hospital seeks a Surgical Technician for per diem/on-call day shifts. You will assist the surgeon and team during procedures, ensure sterile technique, and handle sutures, supplies and instruments to support safe, efficient operations.

You will collaborate with perioperative staff, maintain instrument sterility, and help optimize patient outcomes in a busy surgical unit. This role offers flexible scheduling and eligibility for Providence benefits where applicable.

Qualifications

• Accredited surgical technology program required.
• Active certification by NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT required.
• May be grandfathered if previously employed in ASC/hospital/government and completes CE hours every two years.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon and surgical team during procedures with sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment.
• Maintain proper sterile technique throughout the procedure.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Perform related perioperative tasks as directed by the surgical staff.

Education

Surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES; NBSTSA/JCAHPO/NCCT certification

Armed Forces Public Health Service training with 16 hours CE every 2 years

Grandfathered based on ASC/hospital/government experience with 16 hours CE every 2 years

Job description

DescriptionSurgical Technician at Providence Seaside Hospital. This is a Per Diem/On-Call, Day Shift position, and will be typically working during weekdays. Works closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct patient care in an effort to optimize positive surgical outcomes. Assists the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure by providing the appropriate sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment. Maintains proper sterile technique during the procedure.

Required qualifications:

1. Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHES and holds an active certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT
2. Completion of a training program in a branch of the armed forces or in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corp and who completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years
3. “Grandfathered” based on work experience in an ASC, hospital, or federal government agency between January 1, 2014 through January 1, 2017 only and who complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years
