Job summary

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital in Lubbock, TX is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the NorthStar Surgical Center team. The role supports OR procedures, prepares supplies, assists surgeons, and maintains sterile technique. Full-time days with opportunities for advancement and comprehensive benefits.

Candidate will have CST, completed Surgical Technology program, BCLS, and knowledge of AORN OR protocols; teamwork and reliability are essential for high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a course in Surgical Technology.
• CST required.
• BCLS required.
• Knowledge of standard AORN OR protocols, procedures, and conduct.

Responsibilities

• Function as the Operating Room Technician on a variety of surgical procedures.
• Select and prepare the appropriate supplies and equipment for the surgical cases.
• Operate surgical equipment i.e., the lights, suction, etc.
• Scrub on surgical cases and participate in surgery by organizing instrumentation and the sterile field, handing instruments to surgeon, assisting in exposure of the surgical field and related activities under the direction of the surgeon.
• Participate in surgical counts; instrument(s), sponge(s), sharp(s), and needle(s).
• Assist in room turnover activities and support the circulator as needed.
• Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and orientation of new personnel.

We are looking for a dedicated Certified Surgical Technologist like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.

What You Will do in this Role:

• Function as the Operating Room Technician on a variety of surgical procedures.
• Select and prepare the appropriate supplies and equipment for the surgical cases.
• Operate surgical equipment i.e., the lights, suction, etc.
• Scrub on surgical cases and participates in surgery by organizing the instrumentation and the sterile field, handing instruments to surgeon, assisting in exposure of the surgical field and performs related activities under the direction of the surgeon.
• Participate in surgical counts; instrument(s), sponge(s), sharp(s), and needle(s).
• When not scrubbed in on cases, assist the circulator in the operating room with activities such as patient transfer, positioning, management of fluids, obtaining of needed items during surgery, and assisting in room turnover activities.
• Participate in general Operating Room activities related to quality improvement, continuing education, maintenance of unit planning, orientation of new personnel, emergency preparedness.
• Transport or assists in transportation of patient from patient room to Operating Suite, and transport of specimens to and from the lab/blood bank.
• Participate in cleaning and restocking of the Operating Rooms.
• Assist Instrument Room Coordinator with the assembling and processing of sterile instrument sets, and supplies.
• Assist in other duties as assigned i.e., covering the front desk, and scheduling of cases.
• Be available for call as assigned by supervisor.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms.
