Job description

Job Summary: The Surgical Technician II is a certified and educated professional who performs surgical technology services that contribute to safe, quality, and fiscally responsible care of patients. This role requires a competent practitioner who practices with minimal guidance, seeking assistance when necessary.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the circulating nurse prior to surgery to prepare the operating room, gather supplies, instruments, and equipment, and maintain a sterile field using aseptic technique.
  • Assess the sterile field and provide required instruments and supplies during the intraoperative phase.
  • Perform tasks in the sterile field as directed, including passing supplies, sponging or suctioning operative sites, preparing and cutting suture material, transferring fluids, handling specimens, and assisting in instrument counts.
  • Recognize, intervene, and report any situations that impede patient safety; safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Facilitate efficient turnover by prioritizing activities related to equipment and instrumentation needed for subsequent cases, and report any problems with kits, equipment, or supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Certificate 1 – Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
  • Certificate 2 – Basic Life Support.
  • 1–3 years of related work experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited education program for surgical technologists or a completed training program in the United States Military or Public Health Service.
  • Current certification administered by a nationally recognized body accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and navigation of web‑based applications.

Physical Nature Of The Job

Medium work: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally or up to 20 pounds of force frequently; requires standing and/or moving throughout most of the shift.

Pay Range

$38.33 – $56.95 hourly. Compensation may exceed the base rate based on seniority, education, relevant experience, certifications, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other allowable factors.

All staff must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
