Job summary

Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is seeking a Surgical Technician I to assist with the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. You will pass instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies in the operating room under supervision, adapting to patient age and needs.

You will work alongside surgeons and the circulating RN in the OR suite, supporting a patient- and family-centered model of care while following all policies for supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Operating Room Technician Training Course or equivalent.
• Current BLS from American Heart Association.

Job description

Schedule: 4 days /10hr shifts; 7am - 5:30pm with variable days of the week including weekends and holidays

Purpose Statement/Position Summary

The Surgical Technician I, assists with the nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Assists surgeons in the operating Room by passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies. Performs job functions according to specific patient age and/or developmental needs. Works under the supervision of ST II, III or IV in collaboration with surgeon and circulating RN in the operating room suite. Demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care. Adheres to all applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

Required

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience

• Some experience in Operating Room
• Demonstrates clear, concise, and professional communication to support safe and efficient operations in the surgical environment.

Preferred

• 1 year Operating Room experience in a variety of surgical specialties.

Education/Licensure/Certification

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of Operating Room Technician Training Course or equivalent.
• Current BLS from American Heart Association
