Job summary

MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills, CA is seeking a Surgical Technician I for the Surgery Services department. This full-time night-shift role supports safe patient care, assists in surgical procedures, and helps manage the workflow in a busy operating room.

Qualifications include a scrub tech program or Armed Services training, BLS, and at least one year of acute care experience preferred; completion of training and certification as applicable.

• Minimum of (1) one-year acute care experience preferred
• Computer, internet, order entry and word processing experience preferred
• Proficient in medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform all aspects of surgical techniques/procedures
• Prioritizes workload.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation.
• Contributes to an effective and safe working environment.
• Serves as a role model and assists new staff members.
• Serves as a preceptor for new employees/students in the scrub role
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees.
• Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations.
• Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion.
• Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies
• Ability to be at work and be on time.
• Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
• Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.

Title: Surgical Technician I

Location: Laguna Hills, CA – Saddleback Memorial Medical Center

Department: Surgery Services

Status: Full Time

Shift: Night – 12 hour shifts

Pay Range: $32.19/hr. - $46.68/hr.

Bonus: $3,000.00 – signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements

Position Summary:

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required
