Job summary

The CORE Institute is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to support our operating rooms with safe, efficient patient care. You will prepare supplies, assist surgeons, and maintain sterility throughout procedures in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Requirements include a Surgical Technologist Program completion and OR experience; BLS certification is required or obtained within 90 days. We value teamwork and adherence to hospital policy to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program required.
• Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.
• Prior OR ST experience preferred.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and facility policy.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for procedures and prepares for cases.
• Scrubs, gowns and gloves prior to surgical procedures and gowns for personnel.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments and medications for the procedure.
• Assists with draping sterile field and passes instruments to the surgeon.
• Maintains sterile technique and assists with terminal room cleaning.
• Assists in prepping room for the next patient and handles specimens properly.
• Performs counts with circulator and participates in time out and site checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program is required.
• Surgical Technologist Certification is preferred.
• Prior experience as an OR ST preferred.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS, or obtained within 90 days of hire)

Essential Functions

• Delivers safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and according to facility policy and procedure.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure, and prepares for scheduled future cases by obtaining, supplies and equipment and placing on case cart.
• Scrubs, gowns and gloves prior to surgical procedure per hospital policy, and gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants for procedure.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure and opens sterile supplies.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure and anticipates what will be needed.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure.
• Prepares sterile dressings.
• Assists with housekeeping tasks as necessary to provide a safe environment for patients, teammates, physicians, guests.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of room.
• Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
• Properly handles and cares for specimens.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
• Participates in procedural checks, time out, and surgical site identification according to hospital policy and procedure, and must demonstrate current competencies for job position.
• Assumes other related responsibilities as required and assigned.
