Job summary

A major healthcare provider in Everett is seeking a Surgical Technician to prepare the Operating Room and assist the surgical team during procedures. You will be responsible for cleaning and processing equipment and will collaborate with all surgical team members. Candidates must have a High School Diploma, complete an accredited surgical technology program, and possess National Surgical Technician Certification. This full-time role requires additional on-call duties for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Periop 101 during CHA orientation.
• Must be certified and possess BLS certification.
• Successful completion of Periop 101 during CHA orientation.
• National Surgical Technician Certification required.
• Current American Heart Association/American Red Cross BLS certification required.

Overview

CHA Perioperative Services consists of Orthopedics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastics, Podiatry, Vascular and Endoscopy and many other services. Cambridge Health Alliance’s experienced Surgery team has performed thousands of procedures at some of Boston’s finest teaching hospitals. Today, we have recruited highly-regarded surgeons and are able to provide state-of-the-art care in our operating rooms. The department has grown significantly adding skilled surgeons who bring specialized care to our communities. Our most recent initiatives include a minimally invasive surgery program, hepatobiliary and pancreatic program, and multidisciplinary breast center. All of our Surgeons handle routine cases as well as more complex procedures. Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive techniques to reduce the discomfort and recovery time of surgery. Many procedures can now be done on an outpatient basis with patients going home the same day. These procedures including Endoscopy are performed at Cambridge and Everett hospital and outpatient Endoscopy is performed at our Somerville Campus.

Job Purpose

The Surgical Technician responsibilities include the preparation of the Operating Room (OP), equipment and instrumentation for each procedure, assisting the surgical team during the procedure and the clean-up and processing of equipment post-procedure. The Surgical Technician works collaboratively with the RN and all surgical team members to meet the needs of each patient. On call duties will be required for nights, weekends and holidays.
