RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Surgical Technician in the RWJUH Somerset area, within the Operating Room department. The role involves preparing and maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments, and ensuring equipment readiness during procedures.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, completed a Surgical Technician program, and 2–3 years of OR experience. Certifications include NBSTSA and BLS; day shift with on-call requirements, for a part-time schedule in New Jersey.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program from an accredited school.
• 2–3 years of experience in a main OR.

Responsibilities

• Scrub the listed service lines (robotics, vascular, endovascular, general, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases).
• Pass instruments and maintain sterile field; ensure surgical equipment is available and functioning.
• Assist with routine patient care activities under supervision and communicate effectively with the team.

Pay Range: $35.05 - $42.97 per hour

Job Overview

Surgical Technician assists the surgical team during procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments, and ensuring surgical equipment is available and functioning properly. They also assist with routine patient care activities under the supervision of nurses and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program from and accredited school
• 2 3 years of experience in a main OR

Certifications and Licenses

• Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements

• Day shift
• Part Time
• On call required
• Holiday call on rotation

Essential Functions

• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, general, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently
