Job summary

Trinity Health System is seeking a Surgical Tech to administer care under the direction of a registered nurse and to support professional nursing standards in a busy hospital setting.

The role focuses on patient-centered communication, adherence to policies, and collaboration with care teams to ensure safe, high-quality service and continuity of care across departments.

Responsibilities

• Communicates to customers in a manner that alleviates concerns and answers questions clearly and effectively, including phone and any electronic method of communication.
• Answers the phone with appropriate professionalism and in accordance with hospital policy.
• Communicates clearly and exhibits appropriate follow-up to prevent service delays.
• Demonstrates understanding of appropriate channels of communication and follows the appropriate chain of command.
• Communicates relevant patient information to care providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Uses hospital-wide and departmental key words and phrases to create a caring and service-oriented culture in every employee and patient interaction.
• Demonstrates behavior reflective of our strategic plan, mission, vision, core values, quality principles.
• Readsily assists in the orientation, training and precepting of new employees. Supports fellow employees with process change in the spirit of promoting a positive environment of teamwork.
• Voices suggestions for improving care, working relationships, and the work environment through appropriate channels.
• Contributes to the overall quality of patient care or other support services provided through cooperation with staffing needs (i.e., acuity/census, schedule changes, floating, low census, on-call, covering absences, covering vacancies.)
• During times of heavy workload, demonstrates initiative and ability to take on extra work.
• Assists others, when requested or required, with their workload and volunteers to help others when the need is obvious, without sacrificing the quality of their own work assignments.
• Works as a dependable and cooperative team player.

Job description

As an employee of Trinity Health System, it is the responsibility of this and all positions within the Hospital to support the mission and role of Trinity Health System. The employee also performs all job duties in compliance with laws and regulation in the observance of accrediting agency standards. Administers care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties. The Surgical Tech will maintain standards of professional nursing care according to standards, recommended practices and guidelines of AORN, Inc.
