Salina Regional Health Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to prepare and maintain sterile fields, assist with draping, and hand instruments during procedures. The role supports nurses and physicians, monitors patient status, and helps with transport and routine care.
The position requires a high school diploma, on-the-job training, and BLS certification within 90 days; CST certification is preferred for advancement. Day shift with possible weekends and on-call duties.
Under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse in charge of the department, the surgical technician assembles needed supplies/equipment before and during the surgical procedure while maintaining standards of care established for the patient scheduled for a surgical procedure. The surgical technician sets up the sterile field, assists with draping the patient, anticipates the surgeon's needs and hands sterile supplies and instruments to the surgeon and his/her assistant. Skillfully practices sterile technique. Assists the nurses in providing quality patient care and informs the nurse about any significant changes. This includes taking vital signs, transporting patients, and helping the professional nurse with interventions. The surgical technician also interacts with other departments, performs cleaning, and restocks supplies, all under the direction of the professional nurse.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High school or equivalent
Completion of an anatomy and physiology course preferred
On-the-job training
Required Registration/License/Certification
BLS certification to be obtained within 90 days of employment
Certified Surgical Tech (CST) certification preferred
Schedule-Shift-Hours Full Time - Day Shift - Day shift,with occasional weekends,rotating holidays,and on call possible
