Job summary

CARTI is seeking a Surgical Tech to support operative and invasive procedures by preparing sterile instruments and maintaining the sterile field. The role involves assembling supplies, draping, and handing instruments to the surgical team in a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility includes an accredited surgical technology program or military training, with CST certification preferred. BLS and hospital experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in an acute care hospital (if not meeting formal education requirements).
• Two (2) years of experience in an acute care hospital (if meeting CST certification requirement) OR Four (4) years of experience in an acute care hospital (in lieu of certification).
• Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word)

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure; preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure; performing accounting procedures with the RN circulator; assisting with placement of sterile drapes; providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team; maintaining an organized sterile field; ensuring sterility of the field.
• Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to decontamination areas.
• Assist with postprocedural cleaning of the room and preparation of the room for subsequent patients.
• Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.

Education

Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program OR

Military Training Program in Surgical Technology OR

Two (2) years of experience in an acute care hospital (in lieu of formal education)

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from NBSTSA OR

Four (4) years of experience in an acute care hospital (in lieu of certification)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

JOB SUMMARY

Facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

Specific Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintaining an organized sterile field;
  • Ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed; and
  • Preparing sterile dressings.

Education, Certification, Licensure, Registration

• Level 1:
  • Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program OR
  • Graduate of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology OR
  • Two (2) years of experience in an acute care hospital (in lieu of formal education).
• Level 2:
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR
  • Four (4) years of experience in an acute care hospital (in lieu of certification).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES

• Level 1:
