Job summary

Children’s Mercy KC in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Surgical Technician I to join the patient care team under physicians and RNs. You will scrub before, during, and after procedures, prepare and troubleshoot instruments, and support the surgical team to deliver safe, efficient care.

Qualifications include an Associate’s degree in surgical technology (or on-the-job training), a HS diploma, BLS, CST preferred, and 1-2 years experience.

• Associate's degree in surgical technology preferred; no experience required or on-the-job training available.
• HS diploma or equivalent required; 1-2 years of surgical technologist experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire; CST and/or PALS preferred.

Overview

The Surgical Technician I will function as a member of the patient care team, under the direction and supervision of the physician and/or registered nurse. This position provides technical skills in the role of the surgical scrub before, during and after operative procedures, by anticipating needs, preparing, organizing and troubleshooting equipment, instruments, and supplies as required for various surgical procedures. Assists the physician(s) and nursing staff to provide optimal patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, utilizing resources efficiently, communicating effectively, and is proficient in scrubbing Level 3 procedures and below.

• Associate's Degree Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training or


• HS diploma or equivalent Required and 1-2 years experience Surgical Technologist experience required


• Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Upon Hire


• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Preferred


• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $25.39/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
