Job summary

Elevated Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Aurora, CO is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the surgeon and clinical team through consultations, pre-op prep, and intraoperative assistance. Qualifications

  • Dental assisting experience preferred and related clinical workflows understood.
  • Exposure to oral & maxillofacial procedures preferred but not required; training available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeon during consultations and procedures, including patient seating and intraoperative support.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and provide pre- and post-operative instructions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with standards and regulations.
  • Monitor vital signs and assist with anesthesia monitoring as appropriate.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed, including OSHA compliance and radiation safety protocols.
  • Sterilize, organize, and prepare instruments and equipment for procedures.
  • Foster a positive patient experience through empathy and clear communication.
  • Collaborate with team to coordinate patient care and meet surgical schedules.

As a Surgical Technician, you'll play an essential role in our patients’ surgical journey. Working closely with our surgeon and clinical team, you'll assist with consultations and procedures, prepare patients for surgery, provide exceptional pre- and post-operative care, and help ensure every visit is safe, efficient, and comfortable.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Surgical Excellence & Clinical Support: Assist the surgeon throughout consultations and surgical procedures, including patient seating, vital signs, surgical preparation, and intraoperative support. Maintain proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and ensure all consent forms, medical histories, and treatment plans are complete, accurate, and up to date.
  • Exceptional Patient Care: Serve as a trusted resource for patients by providing clear, compassionate, and thorough pre-operative and post-operative instructions. Coordinate required medical clearances and anticipate patient needs to ensure they feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their surgical journey.
  • Safety, Compliance & Clinical Standards: Uphold the highest standards of patient safety and regulatory compliance, including OSHA and applicable clinical guidelines. Follow proper radiation safety protocols and produce high-quality diagnostic radiographs using appropriate exposure techniques and precise anatomical positioning.
  • Accurate Documentation & Record Management: Maintain timely, thorough, and accurate patient records, clinical notes, and charting in accordance with practice standards and regulatory requirements. Recognize that exceptional documentation is an essential part of exceptional patient care.
  • Clinical Equipment & Instrument Readiness: Prepare, organize, sterilize, and maintain clinical equipment and surgical instruments to ensure every procedure begins with a safe, efficient, and fully prepared treatment environment. Identify equipment concerns promptly and take appropriate action to maintain operational readiness.
  • Teamwork & Professional Relationships: Build strong, respectful relationships with patients, physicians, and team members. Contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace by communicating openly, approaching challenges with professionalism, identifying solutions, and actively participating in resolving concerns.
  • Confidentiality & Professionalism: Protect the privacy and confidentiality of all patient, clinic, and hospital information. Exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information and ensure confidential discussions occur only with appropriate personnel and in appropriate private settings.

Anticipate patient needs, promote comfort and reassurance, and provide compassionate support before, during, and after treatment. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

We're looking for a motivated, compassionate, and team-oriented professional who is passionate about patient care and eager to grow in a surgical environment.

  • Dental assisting experience is preferred, with a strong understanding of clinical workflows and patient care.
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery experience is highly preferred, but not required. We are excited to train and mentor the right candidate who brings a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and a willingness to learn and grow.

CERTIFICATIONS & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

At Elevated Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, patient safety is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, infection prevention, and workplace safety. Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Basic CPR Certification - Required Current Basic CPR certification is required to ensure the ability to respond confidently and appropriately in the event of an emergency.
  • Dental Assisting or Oral & Maxillofacial Assisting Certification - Preferred Certification in dental assisting or oral and maxillofacial assisting is preferred. Candidates who demonstrate strong potential and a commitment to learning may be considered for training opportunities.
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination & Titer - Required Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination and/or appropriate immunity titer in accordance with applicable workplace and clinical safety requirements.
  • TB Screening & Titer - Required Current tuberculosis (TB) screening and documentation of required testing in accordance with applicable workplace and clinical safety requirements.

Extensive standing and walking. Assist in lifting and mobilization of patients.

Additionally, occasional lifting and carrying boxes, supplies up to 25 pounds may be required. Furthermore, close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) is required.
