Baptist Health in the United States is seeking a skilled Surgical Tech for the Operating Room. The PRN position supports the perioperative team under RN supervision, ensuring sterile technique, instrument availability, and safe patient care throughout procedures.
Ideal candidates have an accredited Surg Tech program or hospital training, with BCLS within 90 days and Endoscopy Technician certification within 1 year.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Surgical Technician to join our perioperative team. In this role, you will work under the guidance of registered nurses and the supervision of the Lead Tech, SPD/Endoscopy Supervisor, Charge RN, Nurse Manager, and Director. Your primary responsibilities include preparing and maintaining a sterile surgical field, providing appropriate instrumentation and supplies for surgical and endoscopic procedures, and ensuring patient safety through adherence to aseptic techniques and universal precautions. You will also play a key role in facilitating effective communication with patients, physicians, nursing staff, and other hospital departments. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of operative procedures, including draping, instrumentation, suturing, and supply management, as well as expertise in sterilization processes, hand antisepsis, sharps handling, and compliance with AORN and AAMI standards.
Requirements:
Graduated of an accredited Surg Tech program; or Hosptial Sponsored Training Program; or Minimum of 1 year of Surg Tech Experience in a Hospital Setting
BCLS required within 90 days of hire
Certified Endoscopy Technician required within 1 year of hire
Prior Endoscopy Experience; Certified OR Technician; or Certified SPD Technician preferred
