Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking a Surgical Technologist to scrub and support surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality and hospital standards. You will participate in on‑call rotations, operate the sterilizer and other patient care equipment after training, and help update surgeon preference cards, pull case carts and stock rooms to keep ORs ready for next cases.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 1 year or more of Surgical Technologist Experience is Required.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on the need of the department.
• Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and goals, and communicates issues to appropriate person in the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in assisting with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning‑over the OR, and assisting with scheduled supply inventory.
• Quality Improvement: Strives for high quality performance and takes initiative to make improvements and deliver results.
• Personal Achievement: Sets and achieves personal goals to advance career‑related skills, knowledge and abilities and helps others to improve their skills.
