Lansdale Hospital is seeking a full-time experienced Surgical Technician to join our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate should have at least one year of scrub experience and be certified as a BLS and OR Technician. You will be responsible for preparing surgical instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures.

Job Details

FULL TIME Experienced Surgical Technician to scrub multiple services in Operating Room. Experience required. Join the mission of Improving Lives as a Certified Surgical Technician at Jefferson Health.

Essential Functions

• Interacts with co‑workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Recognizes patients and their families or designated care partners, providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on respect for personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs.
• Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners.
• Inspects Operating Room (OR) for cleanliness and secures, sets up, and prepares OR equipment, instruments and supplies needed for surgical procedures.
• Participates in team time‑out and advocates for patient safety and high‑quality care in the perioperative setting.
• Provides assistance with gowning and gloving of the surgical team, including the surgeon.
• Assists with preparation of the sterile field, including draping of the patient and maintaining sterile field integrity.
• Gives a thorough report to relief personnel on status of procedure, instruments, materials, and any other pertinent information to ensure a smooth transition during the surgical procedure.
• Counts all sharps, sponges and instruments with the circulating nurse before, during, and after the surgical procedure; follows policy on counts and initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists in maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure efficient unit operations.
• Helps maintain a safe, neat, and clean environment to facilitate safe and effective patient care in the Operating Room.
• Acts as primary preceptor to other surgical team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of a surgical technician training program.
• Experience: Prior surgical technician experience preferred; one (1) year of scrub experience required.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with patients, families, and care partners; understanding of effective communication tools and techniques; ability to use industry standards, policies, and procedures; understanding of the physical environment and full spectrum of activities in maintaining physical facilities; knowledge of risks faced by patients and how to reduce them; knowledge of common equipment and devices used in healthcare; knowledge of surgical assistance techniques and compliance with health and safety standards; knowledge of policies, procedures, and management methods to maximize operating room efficiency and productivity.
• BLS and OR Technician certification required.
• High School Diploma required; completion of OR Technician training required.
