Job summary

Kettering Health is seeking a Surgical Technician for the Miamisburg, OH location to support patient care by preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting the surgical team throughout procedures in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires completing an accredited surgical technology program (certificate or associate degree) or AST-equivalent; BLS certification by start date; and the ability to work collaboratively.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program (certificate or associate degree) or AST-equivalent.
• No prior experience required; clinical experience gained through the program is acceptable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by start date.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and maintain sterile technique to ensure patient safety.
• Assist the surgical team throughout procedures and manage instruments and supplies.
• Handle instruments and equipment in compliance with established protocols and regulatory standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned and align with Kettering Health's mission and B Safe program.

Responsibilities & Requirements

The Surgical Tech supports patient care and safety by preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting the surgical team throughout procedures. This role ensures operational reliability by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Required Education:

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program (certificate or associate degree) or equivalent education as recognized by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).

Required Work Experience:

• No prior experience required
• clinical experience obtained through surgical technology program is acceptable.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in surgical technology or related field.

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
