Job summary

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian seeks a skilled Surgical Technician II to support the operating room team as a scrub/assist person under supervision. You will help prepare instruments, maintain sterile technique, and ensure patient safety across multiple service lines including potential Labor and Delivery duties.

Qualifications

• Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician program or equivalent military medical core training.
• Minimum of one year Surgery Tech/scrub experience, preferably within an ambulatory or acute healthcare environment.
• Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates preferred.
• LDR and LDRP experience preferred, especially in Labor and Delivery.

Responsibilities

• Participates as member of the surgical team under direct supervision of an RN/Charge Nurse or Clinical Manager.
• Functions in the role of scrub/assist person and assisting physician and/or RN.
• Responsible for direct and indirect care of patients.
• Assists with maintenance, care of instruments, supplies and equipment according to manufacturers' instructions and infection prevention standards.
• Maintains sponge, needle, and equipment counts according to policy.
• Decontaminates, cleans, and cares for operating room equipment using sterile technique.
• Identifies, gathers, and prepares instruments and specialty items for procedures.
• Monitors physiologic needs for patient safety and equipment size.
• Demonstrates competency in 3+ specialties/service lines (e.g., Thoracic, Ortho, Spine, ENT).
• May require on-call duty.
