Vanderbilt Health in Nashville is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the GI Endoscopy Lab. You will participate in interventional imaging procedures, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance while supporting the care team.

The role requires graduation from an approved discipline or a surgical technologist program, 1 year of relevant experience, and NBSTSA CST or NCCT TS-C certification (with certain military training exceptions).

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved discipline or completed surgical technologist training program (military service acceptable).
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience; GI experience preferred.
  • Certification: NBSTSA CST or NCCT TS-C; exception if armed forces SCT training program graduate.

Responsibilities

  • Review radiology exam requests and patient ID to ensure safe, appropriate imaging.
  • Assist interventional screening procedures, following safety standards and policies.
  • Apply standardized processes for patient, staff, and self safety during procedures.
  • Support overall imaging workflow and ensure compliance with quality standards.

These roles are performed in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures to ensure the best possible patient care services are delivered..KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Reviews radiology exam requests and patient identification to ensure safe, appropriate and cost effective imaging.Applies broad range of skills to ensure exam is completed timely and meets quality and compliance standards.Provides appropriate Interventional screening process to patients, staff and self-according to prescribed safety standards.The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.Position Qualifications:Required: Graduate of an approved specific discipline OR successful completion of a surgical technologist training program during the applicant's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States.Required: Min. 1 year of relevant work experience. Previous GI experience preferred.Required: Certification from one of the listed issuers below:NBSTSA CST – National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistants, Certified Surgical Technologist.NCCT – TS-C – National Center for Competency Testing, Tech In Surgery.Exception: If graduate of surgical technologist armed forces training program, no certification is required .TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:Anatomy & Physiology Knowledge (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with anatomy and physiology knowledge.Interventional Radiology (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with interventional radiology.Radiology (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with radiology. (Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to perform limited radiology and/or limited sonography services as directed by licensed healthcare team member)Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience, training, direct exposure, or past experience working with patient documentation.Compliance (Fundamental Awareness): Demonstrates and basic knowledge of the core rules, regulations, instructions and guidelines as they apply to assignments.
