Job summary

Proforma Health Inc. in Houston, TX seeks a Surgical Technician to assist surgical teams in operative environments, ensure equipment functionality, and maintain a sterile setting. You will handle instruments, supplies, specimens, and support procedural preparations in accordance with infection control policies.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program, with NBSTSA/NCCT certification preferred. BLS within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.
• Experience as a Surgical Technician preferred; at least one year recommended.
• Certifications: Surgical Technician Certification by NBSTSA or NCCT, or Military/Health Service program (one required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for patient procedures by arranging instruments, drapes, and supplies efficiently.
• Ensure proper functioning of surgical equipment and instruments during procedures.
• Maintain a sterile environment, label and dispatch solutions and medications per protocols.
• Participate in specimen management, correctly identifying and forwarding specimens.
• Prepare and understand equipment and supplies used in surgeries, perform counts as required.
• Attend meetings, follow schedules, work independently, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Follow infection control policies, OSHA, and regulatory guidelines for safety.
• Perform additional duties to support team and patient satisfaction.
