The technologist possesses knowledge and skills in sterile and aseptic technique. The Surgical Technologist also demonstrates knowledge of numerous surgical procedures so the needs of the surgeon can be anticipated.**Essential Job Functions:*** Organizes and prepares case set-up prior to start of case. Identifies and communicates unusual techniques and instruments required for surgery.* Cleans, assembles, operates, and properly cares for instruments, supplies, and equipment used in team specialties. Demonstrates an understanding of surgical procedure classification system and handles operating room specimens according to standard operating procedures.* Provides patient care, according to diagnosis/procedure, utilizing the procedure cards and following established hospital policies and procedures.
