Responsibilities

• Perform the scrub role and assist with all aspects of the care of the surgical patient according to policy and procedure and care standards.
• Maintain a safe sterile environment, preparing, passing, holding, inserting, removing, cleaning and assembling instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Count sponges, needles, sharps and instruments; assist the RN with delegated circulating duties, transporting, positioning, skin preps and specimen preparation.
• Always work as a team member within the entire facility and follow hospital policies.

Under the general supervision, the Surgical Tech performs the scrub role and maintains a safe sterile environment which includes preparing, passing, holding, inserting, removing, cleaning and assembly of instruments, equipment and supplies; counting sponges, needles, sharps and instruments; and assists the RN with delegated circulating duties, transporting, positioning, skin preps and specimen preparation in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.
