Job summary

ProMedica Monroe Physicians is seeking a Surgical Technician to support surgical cases at Flower Hospital. You will prepare for procedures, maintain sterile fields and assist the team to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities include aseptic technique, instrument and sponge counts, and collaboration with the circulating nurse. LPN or surgical technology training is required; CPR is mandatory; prior surgical experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or a Licensed Practical Nurse educational program.
• Current, unencumbered LPN licensure from the state of employment if hiring into the LPN capacity.
• CPR required.
• Prior experience in a surgical setting preferred.
• AST or NCCT certification preferred.

Job Summary:

As a Surgical Technician, you use your knowledge of anatomy, patient needs and departmental procedures to prepare for and manage surgical cases at ProMedica.

You will ensure sterile field integrity by using aseptic techniques and addressing any breaks in sterile technique quickly.

Teamwork is key in this role as you work with the circulating nurse to keep an accurate count of sponges, instruments, and sharps in accordance with department guidelines.

REQUIREMENT S

Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must be a graduate of a Surgical Technology program or a Licensed Practical Nurse educational program.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENT S

Years of Experience: Prior experience in a surgical setting preferred.

Certification: Preferred Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists ( AST) , certification from NCCT.
