Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Surgical First Assistant to support the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure, and intraoperative technical functions. This role may involve preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.

The candidate must be a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program with at least 3 years scrub/assisting experience, current BLS, Surgical Technology certification, and Surgical First Assistant certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program.
• 3 years scrub and/or assisting experience.
• BLS certification.
• Surgical Technology certification.
• Surgical First Assistant certification.
• Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring appropriate equipment is available
• Reviewing permit to confirm procedure
• Assist in moving and positioning patient
• Providing assistance throughout the procedure in a variety of surgical techniques
• Performs duties as assigned.

• Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.

Preferred:

• Education: Associate degree
• Experience: 5 years as surgical technician.
