Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, a 495-bed facility, is seeking a surgical technologist to support patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role participates in operations with the surgical team and adheres to the Service Excellence Standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of surgical technology experience preferred.
• Completion of a surgical technologist program with certification exam eligibility – certification preferred.
• Current BLS certification upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment.

Position Summary

A person prepared in technical surgical skills who actively participates in the care of the surgical patient. Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the surgical tech attends to the patient’s direct care needs and performs tasks as delegated by the RN. Works in partnership with an RN; does not assume an independent role. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives in collaboration with other health team members. Supports an organizational culture of Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards for all customer groups.
