Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Assistant Program.
• Graduate from Surgical Tech Program.
• Certification as a CSA, SA-C, or CST/CFA.

Responsibilities

• Safely position patients for the surgical procedure and assist with transport to the operative suite.
• Assist surgeon in identifying patient and staff safety hazards.
• Surgical prepping and draping of patients for the surgical procedure.
• Provide exposure of the operative site using retractors and maintain visual field.
• Suction and sponges to keep a dry field and clear view of the operative area.
• Maintain hemostasis and assist with wound closure per surgeon directions.
• Tie and cut sutures and assist in dressing application after surgery.
• Maintain current knowledge of procedures performed.
