Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Richardson, TX is seeking a Surgical Technician II CST to join a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team. You will ensure instrument readiness, anticipate surgeon needs, and assist during procedures to support safe, efficient patient care.

The role requires CST certification, BLS, and a diploma or equivalent; experience with multiple specialties is valued. You will participate in setup, turnover, and sterilization, contributing to high-quality surgical services.

Qualifications

• CST certification is required.

• Advanced competencies in at least 3 specialties are required.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate needs of the surgical team and obtain instrumentation and supplies for the procedure.
• Pass instruments to surgeon and assistant during the procedure.
• Assist with terminal cleaning of the room and preparation for the next case.
• Begin cleaning up back table and preparing instruments for terminal cleaning and sterilization as circulator prepares the patient to leave.
• Place instruments back in the tray for transport to SPD.
• Know and adhere to all policies such as count policy, universal protocol, and labeling of medications.
• Work with students and junior staff on correct method for passing and retrieving instruments during procedures.

Your Job Requirements

• High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent
• Graduate of certified Surgical Technologist program, military trained, or AD in Surgical Technology preferred
• Basic Life Support certified
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Must have advanced competencies in a minimum of 3 specialties (specialties to be determined by each hospital)
