Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Ohio is seeking a Surgical Technician who will assist under the direction of a Registered Nurse, preparing and maintaining the surgical field and assisting the surgeon during operative procedures.

Responsibilities include supporting the surgery department goals, aiding in room turnover and first-case on-time starts, training staff as directed, and maintaining a safe, sterile environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a surgical technology program or graduate of a practical nursing program.
• Current license to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Ohio if PN graduate.
• BLS healthcare provider training required.

The Surgical Technician, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Under the RN’s direction, sets up, and maintains the surgical field and assists the surgeon during operative procedures.

• Assists in training/orientation of associates as directed by the Clinical Educator.
• Maintains a safe environment for the patient.
• Maintains sterile techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of a surgical technology program, holds a certificate of surgical technology through the NBSTSA, NCCT or graduate of a school of practical nursing.
• Licensure / Certification: If a graduate of a school of practical nursing, current license in good standing to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Ohio.
• BLS healthcare provider training required.
