Job summary

Qualifications

• On the job training will be necessary.
• HS diploma is required.
• Experience in perioperative or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer service toward patients, visitors and team members.
• Assist in safe lifting, positioning, preparing and supporting patients for surgical procedures using proper body mechanics.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment free of clutter; correct hazards.
• Monitors work area to ensure equipment is in the correct location.
• Assists with setting up of OR space for patient procedures.
• Escalates concerns around unsafe conditions.
• Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, infection control practices and OSHA standards.
• Inventorying, disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, and maintaining operating room equipment.
• Preparation, set up, and cleaning up of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Uses standard precautions and PPE when handling hazardous substances including blood and body fluids.
• Transports blood and specimens to/from the perioperative area and laboratory.
• Must be flexible, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Performs other position related duties as assigned.
