Job summary

McPherson Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse-Circulator to work in the operating room alongside the surgeon, CRNA, and OR team. The Circulating RN ensures a safe surgical environment and collaborates closely with the surgical staff to support patient care.

The role requires an active Kansas RN license; ACLS/PALS within 6 months; and preferably OR experience or CNOR. This full-time day position offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Associate degree of nursing or equivalent formal training; bachelor's degree preferred.
• 6 months RN experience in an acute hospital; OR experience preferred.
• Licensed in Kansas as a Registered Nurse.
• ACLS & PALS verified within 6 months of hiring.
• CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow established protocols for medication administration including the five rights of medication administration.
• Communicate patient condition to doctors, nurses, and ancillary staff as needed.
• Document concerns, findings, and actions; implement care plans.
• Assess patient condition; monitor status, vital signs, and coping skills.
• Coordinate the surgical patient's care in the perioperative setting.
• Maintain a safe environment for the surgical patient; prevent injuries.
• Complete perioperative documentation as required.
• Assist perioperative staff and surgeons to provide quality care.

RN Circulator Job Summary: The Circulating RN works in collaboration with the surgeon, CRNA, and entire OR staff to maintain a safe surgical environment for the patient.

RN Circulator Essential Accountabilities:

• Follow established protocols for narcotic and other medication administration ensuring the five rights of medication administration are met.
• Communicate pertinent information related to patients' condition to inform doctors, additional staff nurses and/or ancillary departments of patients' needs and/or plan of care.
• Document concerns, findings, and actions, implementing appropriate care plans related to patients' diagnosis for continuity of care.
• Assess patients' condition, continuously monitoring changes in status, physical findings, vital signs, coping skills ensuring appropriate care is given related to patients' needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Coordinate the surgical patients care in the perioperative setting.
• Establishes an environment of safety for the surgical patient for freedom from acquired physical injury.
• Assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability of the surgical patient.
• Demonstrate knowledge about the psychological, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to the operative or other invasive procedure.
• Completes adequate documentation perioperatively as required.
• Assists perioperative staff, including surgeons, anesthesia providers, RN's and surgical technologists, in providing quality care to the surgical patient.
• Takes call on rotation with other staff during OR non-scheduled hours as appropriate.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique

RN Circulator Education/ Licenses:

• Associate degree of nursing or equivalent formal training program, preferred bachelor's degree in nursing.
• 6 months practicing as an RN in an acute hospital setting, preferred one to two years' operating room experience preferred.
• Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse
• ACLS & PALS verified within 6 months of hiring.
• CNOR preferred

RN Circulator Skills:

• Knowledge of surgical procedures
• Strong communication skills
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Computer skills related to Word, Outlook, and Windows.
