Job summary

Sovereign Care Services in Indiana seeks a Nurse Education Coordinator for Surgical Services (RN) to plan, coordinate, and evaluate education programs for Operating Room staff, including RNs and Surgical Technologists. The educator will scrub into cases to mentor staff and ensure compliance with sterile technique and accreditation standards.

This full-time role requires current RN license, BSN, and several certifications, with a day shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a professional nursing program (required).
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
• BSN required.
• Current RN License in Illinois (IL) required.
• Mastery of AORN Guidelines and aseptic technique.
• Ability to perform as a Scrub Nurse in multiple surgical specialties.
• Current CPR certification.
• ACLS certification within first year of hire.
• CNOR certification highly preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods in sterile gown and gloves.

Responsibilities

• Uses nursing process and professional judgment to provide care for an assigned patient population.
• Assesses patient needs to determine care requirements.
• Plans care and delegates tasks to ancillary personnel.
• Evaluates patient response and adjusts care plans as needed.
• Educates patients and families about condition, treatment, medications, and self-care.
• Plans and conducts in-service orientation and educational programs for staff.
• Maintains content aligned with accreditation standards and care model.
• Communicates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to discuss discharge goals.
• Identifies educational needs and develops learning experiences for staff.
• Develops curriculum content and outlines in line with program objectives.
• Works independently within established protocols and procedures.
• Engages resources to support education and development.
• Scrubs into surgical cases to mentor staff on complex procedures.
• Keeps current with training techniques and programs for nursing education.
• Contributes to quality monitoring and regulatory compliance.
• Serves on hospital committees as educational consultant when appropriate.
