Description:

The Surgical Technician / Operating (OR) Tech (uncertified, certified, unlicensed, or licensed) works in a collaborative environment at St. Mary within Surgical Services to provide safe, quality healthcare services and/or assistance to patients under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse or other designated healthcare professional, in accordance with level of experience, education, policies, and procedures. Must have additional training through in-house certifications or have successful completion of role-specific certification or licensing.

What You Will Do:
  1. Participate in direct one-to-one patient observation to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
  2. Engage in therapeutic communication and assist nurses and healthcare professionals in keeping detailed records, maintaining clear communication between the care team, and working with patients and families.
  3. Serve as a resource, role model, and mentor as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Currently enrolled in high school, completing a GED, or obtained a high school diploma or GED.
  2. Specialty license, certification, training, or experience according to the assignment area in the applicable state(s) of engagement.
