Job summary

Tallahassee Plastic Surgery Clinic is seeking a full-time Surgical Scrub Tech, First Assist to join our operating room team in Tallahassee, FL. The role supports surgeons with equipment handling and intraoperative tasks to ensure safe, efficient procedures.

The position requires a Surgical First Assistant background, CST/CSFA certification preferred, and a commitment to patient-centered care within a busy surgical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required for entry into surgical technology programs.
• Associate's Degree or Postsecondary Certificate in surgical technology provides foundation for the role.
• Completion of a Surgical First Assistant Program (CAAHEP/ARC/STSA) provides advanced training.
• Hands-on internship/externship or prior employment as a surgical technologist ensures practical skills.
• Commitment to continued education and training to stay current with techniques.
• Certification: CST and/or CSFA NBSTSA confirms proficiency in the field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure in surgical settings.

Responsibilities

• Communicate surgeon preferences and patient needs to surgical team.
• Position patient to provide necessary exposure and align with surgeon preferences.
• Provide intraoperative skills: visualization, trocar insertion, local anesthetics, hemostasis, tissue handling, drains, closure.
• Knowledge and use of open, laparoscopic, and robotic equipment for procedures.
• Proficient in surgical techniques: clamping, cauterizing, suturing, inserting, injecting, manipulating, retracting, cutting, and ligating tissue.
• Apply suturing techniques to close incisions per surgeon preference.
• Provide postoperative care: dressings, patient transfer, monitoring for complications.
• Collaborate with team to ensure continuity of care.
