Job summary

Penn State Health is seeking a dedicated Surgical Scheduling Specialist to manage patient appointments, pre-operative tests, and procedures within the OR services. You will oversee scheduling for surgical cases, coordinate with surgeons, and train new schedulers to ensure efficient operations.

The role requires extensive experience in medical scheduling, including surgical settings, and a commitment to coaching staff and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience (2 years).
• Five (5) years medical scheduling experience, with two (2) years in the surgical arena.
• Experience with training and direct employee oversight.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical cases, endoscopy, pain management and infusions in the OISU unit, within defined parameters and block time.
• Train new schedulers and ensure resources for successful scheduling of surgical cases.
• Assist OR Business Manager with surgical charge capture and follow-up; coordinate with Billing to bill procedures.
• Maintain smooth OR flow and accurate scheduling; communicate with surgical offices regularly.
• Cover OR Desk as needed and coordinate all OR desk activities.
